Lindsey Sollars, who will play for the University of Minnesota next year, likes to read, have fun and play volleyball. She loves to help others succeed in school and volleyball so she decided to start a blog to help track records, scores and rankings of the Minnesota volleyball teams.
With an 18-panel design inspired by a volleyball, the Crack was a chrome coloured ball that had a smoother, rounder surface (and hence better, more uniform behaviour) than any other World Cup match ball. It was also the last World Cup ball to be provided by a locally tendered company, with Senor Custodio Zamora of San Miguel charged with producing it especially for the tournament. Unfortunately, due to issues with abrasion, brittleness and waterlogging, the Crack was dismissed as inadequate by players and officials alike, leading to a variety of hastily sourced alternatives being used throughout the tournament instead.
Yale, which has been receiving votes for national rankings the last two weeks but had yet to crack the lineup, has made both national polls this week. The USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll has Yale No. 13, with other ECAC members, Union, Dartmouth and Cornell among the top 15. The uscho.com list has the Blue at No. 15, while Union, Dartmouth, Cornell, Quinnipiac and Harvard are also among the top 20.
