The Sub Phatty was released in 2013 as a replacement for the original Little Phatty, released in 2007. As stated in the Sub Phatty's limited tour program, the Sub Phatty is built to last as well as capable of hosting a lot more than playing music. The Sub Phatty has a lot more to offer than just a cheap analog synth that's good for live performances. It's design is far more robust and durable than the Little Phatty, which made the Sub Phatty the first Moog synth designed to withstand a live performance. The original Little Phatty is still available for purchase, but you may be upset to learn that it is no longer being manufactured. The design of the Sub Phatty is a testament to the fact that it's far more capable than its predecessor. It can host a whole host of features that have made the Sub Phatty a staple synth for Moog supporters. The keyboard layout is centralized around a mix of full-size keys as well as small tactile keys. This makes it much easier to tweak, a problem that many other synths that are housed within a 21-key design can't say. The keyboard features a long sustain that is as responsive as they come. You may have an awkward time noticing any pitch bending or modulation, but it comes quickly with the help of a knob. There are two modes for this feature, pitch bend and transpose, that both use the same slider for more acceleration and ease of movement. The Sub Phatty has both a free oscillator and auto-sync feature that can be accessed with the dedicated GUI buttons. In terms of modulation options, again the Sub Phatty could hold its own against traditional synths all the way to that range of dedicated synths that are lined up in the kit cabinets, one after the other.First up are the normal mod options, delay, phaser, and a FX LO, along with the CP/SL function that allows you to program in an external CV that can be used for assignable parameters.Another distinctive feature of the Sub Phatty is that there are four multimode filters that can be accessed by using the dedicated buttons in the GUI. The design of the free oscillator features a filter control that determines the notch filter rate. d2c66b5586
